Sunday Afternoon

strapped in

to a swinging seat

"higher   daddy   higher!"

but not too high

he thinks

 

high pitched squeal

and flying curls

sharp fast drop to hard earth

                                         father waits

calmly

below

 

cross-legged

sp;nning smiling

"faster   daddy   faster!"

but not too fast

he thinks

 

returning

later - searching

the park now still and empty

a lone swing slowly swaying

the round-a-bout still turning

an empty slide stands waiting
