7:15 alarm

                too early

fumble in mid-winter darkness

another 15 should do

 

7:30

                          too late to argue

turn on the light

peek through frosted windows

snow outside hides the car

passing jogger puffs rings of steam

 

shower

          hot watter

          hotter

dry hair

           in humid heat

wipe mirror clean

brush teeth for great breath

                                       and fewer cavities

hide new acne

 

snap crackle pop

                        ...no milk

toast

       ...no butter

left over pizza

                    microwave

                                   good

 

remember to return empties

clean kitchen

                   empty ashtrays
